That’s the question Amy did NOT want to ask. But the answer Jesus gave her, healed her heart. Author and bible teacher Amy Seiffert joins us with a conversation around her new book, Starved: Why We Need A Spiritual Diet Change To Move Us From Tired, Anxious, and Overwhelmed To Fulfilled, Whole, and Free.
It’s a conversation about breaking free from the spiritual junk food that leaves us empty to fill up on the only thing that gives us rest for our weary, wounded souls: The goodness of Jesus. First, how Jesus healed Amy’s deep wounds that came from sexual abuse. Then, the guy said to Amy, “Why don’t I teach the bible and you bring the brownies?” Yup he really said that.
Next, it doesn’t have to look a certain way to fill up on Jesus’ presence. Then, when Jesus lifted Amy’s weight of sin, she literally felt 80 pounds lighter! Next, learning to let God love you. Then, spiritual self-help is well, pride. Last, the greatest way we can encourage each other is with the gospel! Please share this if it’s encouraged you.
That’s the reality for 200 language groups in Nigeria. They don’t have a bible in their language. They’ve still haven’t heard the good news. The Holy Spirit hasn’t filled their hearts with the love of God. Yet.
Christy Yoder and her husband Zach and their children are giving their lives in Nigeria through Wycliffe to see that every man, woman, boy, and girl in Nigeria has a chance to hear about Jesus in their heart language in this generation!
First, Christy will be at roadside stop and start playing on her phone a newly translated language. Pretty soon her phone is snatched away as people are hearing God speak their language for the first time!
Then, if you want to hear what it sounds like to have “God so loved the world to beating in your chest,” Christy bleeds it! Next, Nigerian farmers are hearing the gospel and they are singing Jesus songs in their fields!
